| FIREWORKS: ROCKET SURPRISE |

|
Remember ... |
| Art and Craft Projects can be really messy, so make sure you cover your work surface before you begin - or you could end up in big trouble with the grown up whose table you've just wrecked! |
Stuff you need ... |
1 empty toilet roll (or kitchen roll for a really big surprise!)
Thin card (you can use an empty cereal packet)
Kitchen roll or Tissue paper
PVA glue and paste brush
Poster Paint or Acrylic Paint
1 Garden cane
Sticky tape
Wrapped up sweets! |
What you do ... |
Fix the garden cane to the inside of the empty toilet roll using sticky tape so it sticks out of one end of the roll.
Paste glue over the empty toilet roll.
Stick strips of kitchen roll or tissue paper to the toilet roll and paste over again. Also, paste strips of paper to cover the end with the garden cane sticking out of it and cover the paper with more glue.
Repeat several times, then leave to dry.
Roll up the cardboard into a cone shape. You are making the ‘lid’ for the empty toilet roll, so make sure the wide end is wide enough to fit over it.
Trim the wide end of the cone until it’s even and fits over the rocket base. Try not to make the cone too pointed or the lid will end up taller than the base – and then it’ll fall over!
Now you need to paste glue over the cone and cover it with strips of kitchen roll or tissue paper, exactly the same as the base. Then leave to dry.
Your rocket is now ready to decorate! So make sure you cover the whole surface with brightly coloured paint until it looks like a real firework.
When the paint has dried, put the sweets into the base and fix the lid on with sticky tape.
Give it to your favourite person! |
