Preheat an oven to 160C/Gas Mark 3.
Mix together the caster sugar, margarine and vanilla essence.
When it’s all light and fluffy, mix in the flour until it binds together.
Knead the mixture on a floured work surface until it’s smooth.
Roll out the biscuit dough until it’s about 5mm thick and then cut out biscuit shapes.
Put the shapes onto a greased baking tray and cook in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes.
When the biscuits are a pale golden colour, take them out of the oven and leave them to cool.
When cool, use ready made icing, icing pens, cake decorations or all three to make firework pictures on the biscuits.
Try making up your own icing from icing sugar mixed with water. When you’ve got a thick mixture, put it on your biscuit and sprinkle on hundreds & thousands and other cake decoration shapes to form your very own firework display! |
